Newsflash October 2022

Updated: Jan 12, 2023

Dear friends, dear supporters and dear fans!

We are back with a new update from the Development period of our EDGE14.

Start of the concept phase

On October 1st, TU Wien Racing officially started the new chapter of the 2022/23 season with full focus on the EDGE14. However, the foundation for this was already laid in September, when members from all divisions of the team got together to draw up a first version of this year's project plan. With the input gathered, we were able to set realistic dates that will now guide our entire season.

As quickly as the conception of the EDGE14 began, we were already at the end of the official concept phase. In order to perform even better at the competitions in the summer of 2023 and to take into account the necessary changes due to the new regulations, all the technical modules worked out their plans for the new race car. As part of an internal concept review. Those responsible then had to answer questions before we also enlisted the help of our alumni the following week to gather their feedback. With the resulting solid basis, the team is now highly motivated and heading towards the design phase.

Recruiting phase winter semester 2022/23

However, the start of a season does not only mean technical challenges. Every year at the end of September, part of the team goes into alumni status, which means that we have to fill our ranks with new, motivated members at the beginning of the season. As part of this one-month application phase, which officially ended last weekend, our members were more present than ever at events and trade fairs to spread the great opportunity to work in the team.

Starting with the official Welcome Day of TU Wien ( Vienna University of Technology) and the career fair of the University of Applied Sciences Technikum as well as the HTU Community Day, we had the great opportunity not only to reach potential members via social media and presentations in courses, but also to have detailed discussions with them directly at our stands . On our own initiative, we were also able to exhibit our EDGE13 for a whole day on the Gußhaus campus, and then from a busy social stand on the Getreidemarkt campus. The recruiting phase was therefore a complete success and we look forward to getting to know our new members in the coming weeks.

Merten Group

The Merten Group is one of the leading mechatronics companies in Austria that has been in operation for one hundred years. In addition to innovative solutions and high quality standards, the company is committed to promoting young people, which led to the collaboration of Merten Präzisionstechnik and TU Wien Racing several years ago.

Since then, the Merten Group has been supporting us especially in the production of CNC precision parts, initially with various chassis components and today with the rotor shafts for our latest engine generation. However, Merten is also very committed to our association outside of production and is always at our side with advice and action. We are grateful for their valuable cooperation and hope this will continue for many more years to come!
