Newsflash Juni

Dear friends, dear supporters and dear fans!

We are back with a new update from the competition period of EDGE15.

Our EDGE14 drives driverless

We had our first autonomous drive with last year's Formula Student car, the EDGE14! The car successfully passed all pre-checks and drove the first meters completely autonomously. This represents an important milestone for our team and impressively demonstrates our capability and expertise as the first Austrian Formula Student team to build an autonomous car. The next step on the agenda is full acceleration.

Rollout EDGE15

The day the entire team has been working towards for the entire season so far - the 2024 rollout. On May 31, 2024, we were finally able to present this year's race car, the EDGE15, to our sponsors, families, friends and fans for the first time.

As in previous years, this year's rollout was held at TUtheSky above the rooftops of Vienna. We were able to celebrate an unforgettable evening as a team with numerous guests. The evening began with a presentation that introduced the team and its members, looked back at the development and production of the new car and focused on the most important part, the first sight of the EDGE15. This was accompanied by videos, interviews with sponsors and alumni and speeches from our team leaders, who once again offered a detailed insight into the processes of our work. After sufficient tension had been built up, the highlight of the event was the unveiling of the EDGE15, which everyone present was then able to admire.

We would like to thank everyone who made this wonderful evening possible and who experienced and celebrated it with us.

Competitions, here we come!

The EDGE15 has been completed, is already doing its laps on race and test tracks and is ready to prove itself at the Formula Student competitions this summer. In order to be optimally prepared for the official world ranking competitions, we have already started this year's season with FS Easter 2024 in Hungary in June. Every year, this shortened preparation competition gives us the opportunity to test the team and the EDGE15 under real competition conditions. Thanks to the knowledge gained, we will be perfectly prepared for an eventful summer with a total of four world ranking competitions. Shortly after that, in just a few weeks, FS Austria 2024 at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg will take place, followed by further events in Hungary, Germany and Croatia. It will be possible to follow our progress in real time via our social media platforms.

The first competition of 2024: FS Easter

The EDGE15 had just been presented to the world for the first time at the rollout and less than a month later it was already competing at its first event. On June 19, almost 30 of our team members made their way to Zalaegerszeg in Hungary for FS Easter and spent three successful and exciting days there.

After arriving and setting up the pit, we immediately started with the mechanical and electrical acceptance of the car and the battery. On the second day, the morning was dominated by the static disciplines: engineering design, cost report and business plan. The EDGE15 was then checked in several aspects during the outstanding technical acceptance tests: These included the Rain Test, the Tilt Test, the Brake Test and the weighing of the race car. Then it was straight onto the race track.

With several successes in the various disciplines, we were finally able to secure 2nd place overall! With this podium finish, we start the summer highly motivated.
